THE LIST IS BASED ON PARTS MOST FREQUENTLY USED FOR REPAIR AND FEEDBACK FROM INDIVIDUALS NEEDS WHO HAVE PURCHASED THE REPAIR PACKAGE OR WHO HAVE SUGGESTED ADDING VARIOUS COMPONENTS . NOTE: WE HAVE JUST ADDED COPPER RIBBON USED FOR REPAIR OF CRACKED PC BOARDS ESPECIALLY THE LIONEL WHICH WE FOUND 1 IN 3 BOARDS SHOWS CRACKING FROM AGING AND DECOMPOSITION OF THE BOARD MATERIAL. THE RIBBON MEASURES 3 FEET BY 1/16 ” WIDTH.ALL SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED.

THE CDV-700 REPAIR PACKAGE CONTAINS COMPONENT PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND TO BE THE MOST REPLACED PARTS USED WHEN REPAIRING THE VARIOUS CDV-700 MODELS

Difference between CDV-700 model 5 and 6

There are a number of different models of the CDV-700. Early versions were valves, later models (5 onwards) were transistorised. CDV 700 Comparison. Anton Model 5 vs Lionel 6b

Difference between CDV-700 model 6A and 6B

The main difference between the 6, 6A and 6B is the circuitry, functionally they are all very similar. From Victoreen Model CD V-700 Geiger Counter Model 6B Schematic Diagram by Vaughn Aubuchon:

Hacks for the CDV-700

The Electro Neutronics CD V-700 Model 6b has a bad reputation, whereas the Lionel CD V700 is regarded as having one of the best circuits ever. However, the ENi is the most similar to the Lionel, more so than the Victoreen and Anton circuits. So, this makes the ENi a great candidate to convert to a Lionel clone.

Building the circuits and adding an Arduino

It is not difficult to add an Arduino into the mix. One would simply connect an Arduino input to the audio line and count the clicks, in much the same way the digital counter does, in the CDV 700 Pro modification. Or one could re-engineer the circuits below, add a probe of one’s choice and then, again, plug in an Arduino to the audio out. The following schematics are taken from CDV700Pro_construction_tutorial:
