Hey! What’s cooking?

Preamble

The cooker, a Creda Concept C361E, has two issues:

  1. The “hob hot” light stays on constantly
  2. The front right ring is either on or off, it is not possible to vary the heat between the two extremes.

The “hob hot” light

From http://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/5mwkn-creda-hob-hot-light-stays-time-need-change.html

The light power source comes from the element.

There is a switch built into the element that makes a circuit and brings on the light when it’s hot.

When it cools it should break the circuit and switch the light off.

One of your elements isn’t working properly in regard to the light.

The cure is to locate and change the affected element.

To determine which element is causing this you would need to take the hob apart to gain access to the wiring on the elements.

One element at a time, disconnect the wire going to terminal marked 1b on the element.

Insulate the wire, reassemble and try the hob.

When you disconnect the wire on the affected element, the light will go out.

Change the element to cure the problem.

The uncontrollable hob

It is necessary to change the power/energy regulator, or simmerstat, such as the 48ER101C1 .
